February Author Art Challenge

For this month, I challenged the authors of BWL to take the art process and reverse it.  Rather than me trying to put a picture to their words, I wanted them to draw inspiration from pictures.  To keep things fair and not have a massive time drain, I chose artwork rather than creating a cover mock-ups.

THE RULES:

Authors were instructed to ...

Select one of the suggested images, and tell us what is happening.

Create a brief backstory, include needed dialog, etc.

DO NOT FOCUS ON THE TITLE OF THE PICTURE!

If you need to change the time period - do so, you don't have to keep it as a historical.  The focus should be on your interpretation of the characters, their emotions, etc.

Now - the challenge?  Keep it to 1000 words or less!

THE INSPIRATION:

I am really excited to see what the creative minds at BWL come up with.  Who knows, I might try my hand at one of them as well.

Lady Clare looked out over the storm ravaged sea, the wind swirling her tresses and skirts around her. Would Lord Gulard make it through the dangerous tides to rescue her from the clutches of the evil Sir Waxlon? It seemed an impossibly dangerous journey. Seventeen long days she had waited as a prisoner in her own castle. Time was running out and she could wait no longer. Her blood wS set to be drawn this day by her captor's jewelled sword. The curse he said must be broken in such a way. There was another way Clare was sure. A kiss from her beloved would set her free, or death, which ever came first.
In despare she looked back at the only home she had ever known and then jumped.
The icy water claimed her body and soul. It was done. The curse was forever broken. She would never kiss her true loves lips.
